What a buyer should know
An efficiency argument, executed properly
Nine point three metres on a 2.2 m beam gives the Q-Yachts Q30 a length-to-beam ratio above four to one, which is extreme for a motor yacht and is the whole point. That slenderness, drawn from a 1920s smuggler-boat form, is why 30 kWh — a small pack by any standard here — delivers 54 nm at 6 knots, roughly 0.55 kWh per nautical mile and the best efficiency in this group. Twin 12 kW pods with separate batteries give real redundancy, and the ability to charge from ordinary 230 V shore power is a practical advantage over rivals that need three-phase to be usable.
Read the three speed profiles honestly. Fifty-four miles at 6 knots is the Q30; 42 nm at 9 knots is the compromise; 14 knots for about an hour and a half is a party trick for getting somewhere before a weather change, not a cruising setting.
Who should look elsewhere
That narrow hull costs you everything beam normally buys: deck space, interior volume, and stability at rest when people move about. One cabin and no meaningful sunbathing area make this a poor family boat, and €183,000 is a considerable sum for a 9.3 m single-cabin day boat. Buy it for archipelago, river, lake and harbour work — and for single-phase moorings — not for entertaining.
