What a buyer should know
The most practical boat Soel makes
The SoelCat 12 shares its 14.5 m length with the Shuttle 14 but is a wider, cheaper and more flexible vessel: 5.7 m beam, up to 20 passengers, a 0.7 m draft, and from €560,000 — roughly €430,000 less than its shuttle sibling. Choose the SoelCat when the work is excursions, day charters and resort tours; choose the Shuttle when the work is scheduled point-to-point transport. The SoelCat also comes in a private-yacht configuration as well as a commercial one with passenger benches and a day head, which the Shuttle does not.
Two specifications do more work than the price. The shallow 0.7 m draft opens up lagoons, reefs and sandbanks that a conventional excursion boat cannot reach, and the ability to ship the boat disassembled in two 40-foot containers makes it deployable anywhere in the world without a delivery voyage. For an island resort or a remote tourism operation, that combination is genuinely difficult to replicate.
The caveat
As across the Soel range, motor output and battery capacity are not disclosed. The boat is marketed as fully energy-autonomous on solar, which is a strong claim and one that depends entirely on array output, pack size and daily hours of operation. Ask for all three, and for the numbers behind the autonomy claim at your own latitude.
